Dolbel Estate Methode Traditionnelle 2009
This is Dolbel Estate’s fourth release of its Vintage Methode Traditonnelle. It follows on from the highly successful and acclaimed 2008 vintage.
In the glass, the wine displays lively and fresh fruit with obvious yeast characters. The palate is both elegant and rich with a persistent bead and long, clean finish.
The 2009 is a classic blend of Chardonnay (75%) and Pinot Noir (25%). In
a slight departure from the more conventional style, the grapes were
picked with riper and fuller flavour, followed by fermentation in old
The resultant wine is a richer version of the classic Methode with more rounded flavour and a slightly lower acidity. The barrel fermentation has contributed a hint of vanilla oak as well as an increased level of yeast complexity and richness.
Following fermentation, the wine spent 24 months in the bottle on yeast lees. Over this time it developed delightful bready/toasty aromatics and flavours.
